Vondrášková, Tereza ; Sehnálková, Jana (advisor) ; Mertová, Viktorie (referee)
This Bachelor Thesis deals with the topic of experimental studies on African Americans in the United States during twentieth century. As a racially discriminated group, African Americans have long been abused in a number of experiments. Due to segregation, especially in medical facilities, experimental treatments were performed without informed consent of the patient; experiments with radiation were also performed in medical facilities; drugs, cosmetics and the effects of diseases on human body were tested in prisons and many more. The Thesis aims to describe these different types of experiments and discover how and whether the Civil Rights Movement in the 1950s and 1960s was influenced by these experiments. This thesis is focused on a situation of sexually transmitted infections in Prague (and in The Czech Republic shallowly) and analyzes this issue relatively to the social epidemiology. The thesis tries to identify the most vulnerable groups of a population. These groups contain homosexual men, individuals having unprotected sex and promiscuous people. Further more, the thesis tries to identify a relation between a high-risk factor and an exposition of a particular infection. For example, it was found out that sexual related risks are mostly determinated by a sexual behavior and a region where the individuals come from. Also, men are more vulnerable group of people than women according to findings of this thesis. A gonorrhoea infection is the most reported sexually transmitted infection in Prague (59,1 % of all cases). Syphilis is the second most common infection of this kind. The highest prevalence of sexually transmitted infections was reported for people with (finished or unfinished) basic education. This group of people represents 14,3 % of all reported cases. Its prevalence is 67,7 patients per ten thousand individuals. A group of people aged 20 - 29 years is another group with high prevalence. Further identification of a sexual behavior in The Czech Republic was one of the main goals of this...
Nursing care of pacients with venerological diseases
PELEŠKOVÁ, Petra
The subject of this bachelor thesis is nursing care of pacients with venerological diseases. Due to an increasing amount of patients infected with sexually transmittable diseases this topis is very actual. Currently, more than 30 sexually transmittable diseases are known, from which the best known are HIV / AIDS, syphilis, gonorrhea, herpes genitalis and chlamydie. The aim of this work is to map the specifics of nursing care of patients with venerological diseases, determine specific tasks of nurses in venerological departments and sections that nurses are focusing on. The theoretical part is focused on most common sexual diseases and on sexual diseases that are not well known by laic community, although quite frequent. It is also focused on the treatment of these diseases. The practical part consists of quantitative research where a query method is used. The technique of data collection is a structured interview. Questions in interviews are divided to the following categories. Most common venerological diseases, Care of patient psyche, Prevention of disease complications, Skin treatment, Diagnosis and treatment, interaction with patients. Research set consists of eight nurses from the skin department who take care of patients with venerological diseases. The research shows that diagnosis of sexually transmittable diseases is always a huge psychological stress for patients. It is necessary to choose a individual approach, because every patient reacts to diagnosis differently. However the approach to these patients should always be without prejudice, nurses should provide sufficient information to patients by the appropriate way. Research also shows that nurses have knowledge of treatment methods and that they can handle most of the operations at venerological patients in practice. Usability of this bachelor thesis is e.g. for clarification of uncertainties in procedures during treatment of venerological diseases and care quality improvement for these patients and also as a study material.
